Preferred Business Partner Spotlight:

Awake Window & Door Co.

Awake Window & Door Co. came to SJW in April of 2021, prior to opening its Gilbert facility, to discuss how it can be a Fair Chance Employer. The company began offering background-friendly, entry-level positions for $17/hour with benefits and room for growth. We referred clients looking for work and Awake would refer their newly-hired staff for employment resources at on-boarding.

Awake also was the first employer to refer its employees to our Workforce Villages transitional housing program for those suffering from housing insecurity. Three working clients have gone through the Workforce Villages 90-day program and are in their own housing now. We modeled the entire Preferred Business Partner Program around our symbiotic relationship with Awake Windows & Door Co. Since our partnership began, Awake has employed 41 SJW clients. We are grateful for our continued partnership with Awake and recently celebrated our partnership by giving them an SJW 35th Anniversary bell.

We are striving to form more relationships like this to help our clients obtain and retain quality long-term employment. If your company is interested, or you know one that might be, we’d love to hear from you. Please feel free to contact Daren Strunk at 602-810-0376 or [email protected].
