At SJW we see our Workforce Villages program through the lens of prevention. If an individual is working a full-time job and experiencing housing instability, their production at work suffers. This is often caused events out of the individuals control. It could be caused by rent increases they can’t afford at their current residence, from a breakup or a medical setback. Whatever the reason, the options when you don’t have family support are; sleeping in your car if you have one, staying in a day rate motel or seeking emergency shelter. The cost to the taxpayer and the emotional cost to the individual are immense.
Frank came to SJW with a great work ethic and history, but went from a failed roommate situation to emergency shelter. Throughout our 90-day program, he not only had the opportunity to save $5,000 to use for his apartment, but learned the personal finance skills it takes to be successful long after our program. Here is Frank’s story:
Can we count on your compassion to help change lives?
Your donation can make a transformative impact:
$32 can provide a month of transportation for job interviews or a new job.
$45 can provide an individual with a day of transitional housing, including essential resources, life skills classes, and support on their journey to stable housing.
$50 can connect a job seeker to quality employment and provide a bus pass and interview clothing.
$120 can equip a client with work tools, uniforms, or other resources needed for their first day on the job.
With your help, we can offer hope and a fresh start to those with nowhere else to turn. Join us in making a difference. Together, we can ensure that more stories like Frank’s end with newfound hope and stability.
Thank you for your generosity and support.
