As we approach the season of giving, I’m reminded of the incredible power of community and compassion. Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday, a global movement of generosity, and it’s a chance for us to come together to make a profound difference in the lives of those who need a helping hand. Your support on this special day helps break down barriers to employment and housing, empowering individuals to build brighter futures for themselves and their families. Let’s make this Giving Tuesday a day of hope, transformation, and opportunity. Give Hope Now.

We couldn’t have done it without your support! |

SJW’s Employment Without Barriers program is dedicated to helping individuals from diverse backgrounds secure and sustain steady employment. We guide clients through their job search, assisting with everything from identifying job opportunities in their chosen field to resume building, interview coaching, and managing the application process. To set our clients up for success, we offer interview kits, professional attire, hygiene essentials, and transportation aid. After they land a job, we continue to support them with necessary items like uniforms, work equipment, tools, certifications, and additional transportation assistance. Take a look at the impact we made last month:
SJW’s Workforce Villages program provides 90-day transitional housing for individuals facing housing insecurity, providing them with rent-free accommodations while they work toward financial stability. To qualify, participants must hold full-time employment earning at least $17 per hour. Throughout the program, clients engage in weekly meetings with a Housing Specialist and participate in workshops focused on personal finance, life skills, and meal planning. They are required to save 70% of their income, typically accumulating around $4,500 by the end of the program – equipping them to secure stable housing and establish an emergency fund. SJW continues to support our program graduates for their first year of independent living. Here’s a look at last month’s impact:

Turning Struggle into a Mission – Meet Felton
Felton was at his lowest point, facing homelessness and the risk of relapse, when Path to Progress, his rehabilitation program, referred him to St. Joseph the Worker. Because of your support, SJW was able to provide Felton with the resources he needed to rebuild his life: access to employers, interview clothing, and transportation assistance. Determined to succeed, he secured a $20-an-hour job as a Field Technician.
Inspired by his journey and loss of possessions, Felton now dreams of launching a nonprofit, Storage Solutions to help people experiencing homelessness safely store their belongings while rebuilding their lives. Today, Felton is thriving, proving that with the right help, a brighter future is possible. |
