It's Getting Hot

Arizona’s scorching summers are one of the biggest dangers our homeless clients face every year. Last year, 359 Arizonans died from heat-related causes.
This is a record number of deaths.
By providing heat relief resources to those experiencing homelessness, you are able to help keep our clients safe, allowing them to focus on obtaining and keeping employment.

14 years ago, a Sundt Construction employee had the idea to hydrate the homeless during the hot AZ summer, and so Thirst Aid was born! Since then, Thirst Aid has grown into a valley-wide water and heat relief resource drive to benefit individuals experiencing homelessness and crisis in downtown Phoenix.
These individuals are extremely vulnerable to the sweltering heat of the summer, many of whom have no daytime shelter in which to seek refuge. Water and other heat-relief resources are absolutely crucial to preventing heat-related illnesses or even death.
How You Can Help
St. Joseph the Worker (SJW) is collecting monetary donations through the end of September to purchase water and heat-relief resources.
When a job-seeker lacks these basic essentials, they are not employable. We need support from the community in order to provide these critical items.
