Mitzi’s Success Story

At SJW, sometimes it’s the seemingly simple things that make a huge difference in our clients’ employment journeys.

This was the case for Mitzi, who simply needed a computer and internet access to apply for jobs online. This, like many of our clients, is the reality for many of our Valley community members who are searching for work but lack this basic resource. Knowing full well that lacking this resource creates a barrier to employment and self-sufficiency, SJW breaks it down by ensuring all our offices have plenty of computers, access to internet, and an Employment Specialist to guide clients through the process when needed!

Mitzi came to St. Joseph the Worker’s Mesa office to use the computer to apply for jobs and after a week of applying and interviewing, Mitzi landed a job at Goodwill as a Career Navigator making $20 an hour with full benefits! Upon landing the job, SJW provided her with more barrier breaking resources to make sure she has transportation to and from work as well as the proper work attire to start her new job on the right foot. Mitzi had tears of joy and said, “I am so grateful for all the assistance and resources provided by SJW.”
